CURSILLO: WHAT IS IT?

Cursillo (pronounced kur-see-yo) is a Spanish word meaning ‘’little’ or ‘short concentrated course’ in Christianity. It is a world-wide movement of the Catholic Church that assists men and women in developing a relationship with Our Lord that may be lived and

shared.

The Cursillo Movement consists of proclaiming the best news of the best reality: that God, in Christ, loves us.  Communicated by the best means, which is friendship towards the best of each one, which is the person and his capacity of Conviction, Decision, and Constancy.

Ultreya is a Spanish word for “Onward!”, and is a way that we keep encouraging one another for effective Christian life and witness to the world around us. Ultreyas are the monthly grouping of our smaller friendship groups, which meet weekly in many locations. Meeting together regularly is the way Cursillo members sustain the fire of the Holy Spirit, remain focused on the gifts God has given us, and keep a “backbone” to our Christian life.
